The firm recently acted for Botswana Power Corporation (“BPC”) in the Morupule Expansion Project valued at USD1.4b and in the integrated Mmamabula Energy Project valued at USD16b. In addition, the firm has undertaken mining related transactions acting for: Anglo American in its acquisition of the Oppenheimer family interests in De Beers; Cupric Canyon Capital in the scheme of arrangement and acquisition of Hana Mining and in obtaining approval from the Ministry of Mines, Minerals, Energy and Water Resources in respect of the transfer of certain Botswana prospecting licences; Discovery Metals Ltd in the syndicated financing of Boseto Copper Mine Project; Sasol Petroleum International & Origin Energy of Australia in the multi-million USD exploration project for coal bed methane; Morupule Coal Mine in respect of coal supply and off-take agreements with NamPower; and the developers of a copper-silver mining scheme, Hana Mining, with recent involvement in international fund initiatives for the project.
